2012 BUCS/BUSA Team Racing Playoffs

BUCS/BUSA playoffs weekend. Venue: Bardowie Loch, near Milngavie, East Dunbartonshire (just north of the City of Glasgow) hosted jointly by the Universities of Glasgow and Strathclyde.

All you need to know about the event, the hosts Glasgow (GUSC) and Strathclyde (USSC) University Sailing Clubs and the Centenary Ceilidh’s etc. on the BUSA Playoffs 2012 website. Qualifying for the Playoffs takes on a whole new aspect!

Info. on accommodation: We can host up to 14 teams within the flats / houses of Strathclyde and Glasgow club members providing all six members of the team purchase a social ticket for the weekend. The social ticket costs £20 per person, and will give you free entry into the Centenary Ceilidh on the Saturday Night, lunches on both the Saturday and Sunday, and of course free accommodation for either one or two nights; as required. The accommodation spaces will be allocated based on a first come first served basis, by emailing paula.kellett@strath.ac.uk Contact details and addresses will be sent out closer to the time.

One day yacht racing event in Sunsail F40s. Charter fee is £695 for the day, or £845 for the weekend (Sunday is a non racing day). This is an opportunity for teams coming to the BUSA Yachting to train in the boats.

Additional info: The BUSA Ladies Trophy will be awarded to the top university team (University team = all sailors must be from the same university).

RYA Team Racing Development Training (Stage 2)

Stage 2 RYA Selected Team Race Training – 10/11 March 2012 (Invitation only)
Aim: To enhance the skill base of the best Team Racers so that they can improve competition performance. By: providing two weekends of intensive team race training for the sailors within the programme (at Oxford) Coaching provided by Team GBR Team Racers.

2012 BUCS/BUSA Yachting Nationals

To be held at Port Solent/Gunwharf Quays.  Sailing will be in chartered F40s in the Solent.  Teams are of 8 crew, including 2 female sailors.  BUCS points for the top 8 teams, medals for the top 3, plus the Scottish trophy for the top Scottish Team.  The top English, Scottish and Welsh teams receive invitations to the Student World Cup in 2012.  A new trophy will be awarded is for the winner of the Long Coastal Race – The Jim Saltonstall Teapot!

Venue TBC. Open to All students. First event of the season. Great event where sailors can either sail in their own dinghies or use their club boats.

BUCS Sport Points are awarded for this event.

Expected Fleets: Laser, Firefly, Handicap, RS200* and Multihull**. *Should less than 15 boats enter, they will be merged into a Fast/Slow Handicap Fleet. **10 + boats must enter for this fleet to go ahead.  Entries will not be merged into the Handicap fleet is less than 10 enter.

All details provisional. NOR and Entry details will be published in September 2012 by BUCS.
