Events
As with many sports there are several different disciplines to sailing ranging from one on one competition to ocean racing. The following brief descriptions are designed to give you an understanding of the disciplines that BUSA run. The championships for each discipline are BUCS sanctioned events.
The different disciplines are akin to different field or track events in both the skills required and the physique of the sailors suited to each event.
All sailing involves technical aspects such as the understanding of boat handling, sail set up, meteorology, tidal awareness, tactics as well as physical fitness, crew communication and knowledge of the rules.
