Dates & Venues: 

Qualifier 1: 15/16 October 2011 @ Royal Northern & Clyde YC (Scotland)

Qualifier 2: 21/22 January 2012 @ Queen Mary Sailing Club (London)

Finals: 28/29 April 2012 @ Queen Mary Sailing Club (London)

Entries: 

Qualifier 1:  All entries for Q1 must be received by 4pm on the 12th October 2011.  An entry fee of £300 payable to the Royal Northern & Clyde Yacht Club (RN&CYC) is required to enter the event.  The required damage deposit is £250 per incident payable to the RN&CYC.

Qualifier 2:All entries for Q2 must be received by 4pm on the 1st December 2011.

An entry fee of £350.00 payable to the Royal Yachting Association (RYA) is required to enter the event.  The required damage deposit is £500 per incident payable to the RYA.

All Teams will only be accepted once the completed form (Skipper name, ISAF ranking and signed off by your AU/Sports Office), entry fee and damage deposit are received.   Teams must consist of 4 to 5 sailors weighing no more than 350kgs.  Entries will be confirmed by e-mail when they are received in full.

All crew names must be sent in by the deadline dates; otherwise you may forfeit your place. 

There are only a maximum of 12 spaces for each qualifier, therefore early entry is recommended.

Universities may only enter one qualifier.  For details about entering 2nd teams please see the NOR.

Team changes (between Qualifier and the Finals): The Skipper and at least one crew member must remain the same.

Registration: Registration will take place between 08.00 ? 09.00 on the morning of each event. All competitors must attend to weigh in and to produce their university registration / library / matriculation cards to prove their student status.  NUS cards WILL NOT be accepted as proof of eligibility to compete.

Sailing Instructions: A copy of the Sailing Instructions will be available at registration to all competing crews. 

BUSA Sailing Subscriptions:  All clubs must be members of BUSA Sailing. Entries will not be accepted until Subs are paid.  Subscriptions are due by the 1st November 2011.

DON’T FORGET: SAILING KIT! YOU MUST BRING YOUR OWN KIT AND BOUYANCY AID/LIFEJACKET!!!!

BUSA is now inviting bids from Member Clubs to host the 2012 Team Racing Playoffs.  This document details the bidding process and outlines information about the event and how to put together a bid. The BUCS/BUSA Team Racing Playoffs is an annual University Team racing competition held to determine the final teams for the championship finals held over the Easter holidays. Entries are between 14 and 20 teams, each of 6 sailors.  The event is sailed in Firefly dinghies over the first weekend (3^rd-4^th) of March 2012.

The Playoffs are the final stage in the BUSA TR Championship qualifying process and, as such, it is one of the premier team racing events in the UK. The competition can be fierce and the difference between the top teams very slight, making for excellent racing.  Aside for the prestige of hosting the event, most host clubs benefited considerably in financial terms from being host.  In recent years, there has always been a full turnout and a well run and disciplined event with social functions on the side can return up to £2,000. A well run Playoffs can also act as a springboard to hosting larger, more prestigious, team racing events which can be more lucrative. Such events would include the BUSA Finals and the UKTRA/RYA Finals.

If you would be interesting in submitting a bid, please firstly read the information within this bidding document and discuss the possibility of bidding with your Club Committee and Students Union/Athletic Union.  You should also approach your sailing venue to make sure they would be happy to have the event and the dates are free.  If you wish to proceed with a bid, please let the BUSA Secretary (Jess Beecher – jessica.beecher@rya.org.uk ) know and prepare a bid document.  There is no set format, but the information below sets out the types of information BUSA would like to know.  Bid documents should be emailed to the BUSA Secretary no later than 1 September 2011.  The bids will then be circulated to the BUSA Committee who will make a final decision.
